Rogue River bank stabilization project complete
About 20 volunteers showed up on September 14, 2002 to help stabilize 350 feet of an eroding bank along the Rogue River. The bank, which had eroded back about 15 feet during the past seven years or so, was graded to about a 45 degree angle. At the foot of the bank, large river rocks were laid in place by volunteers. This should help prevent erosion during times of higher water. Further up on the bank, a geotextile fabric was laid atop grass seed. This should help prevent soil from running down into the river.
